Finally, dil ka deal!
sought after hunk of television, Rajeev Khandelwal, finally proposed to Aamna Sharif confirming the rumours of their 'on-off' relationship. Actor Rajeev Khandelwal won hearts of many when he played the role of in the show "Kahin To Hoga" () alongside Aamna Sharif. All the rumours about India's hottest TV star Rajiv Khandelwal crumble to the dust in this. Amna Sharif & I made a good pair. And marriage?.
Rajeev plays the character of Dr. Naushad Rizwi, who works in a children's hospital and is dealing with his own complication, his own turmoil in life. Haq Se Rajeev, who is not the one to pick up conventional subjects, and repeat himself in any project, was completely blown away by the brilliant script of the show.
The TV heartthrob, however, is unlikely to work in a regular daily soap again, especially the typical one which is stretched like a rubber band and has little meat. And he is sure about not participating in reality shows ever, because, well, he's simply not cut out for them. He is okay with the hosting part though, but it should be as exciting as Sach Ka Saamna. The actor says he doesn't believe in resting in the glory of his past laurels.
He would rather start with a scratch and woo over his audiences again and again than repeating himself. And that's the reason we see him only in a few projects. He spoke to India Today Online about this and more in an exclusive conversation. He works in a children's hospital and has his own complications in life, his own turmoil. I wouldn't say he is complex, but it is his circumstances in life that have shaped his outlook towards life.
Especially, looking at the circumstances in Kashmir, you will know what I am saying. How his life changes after he meets certain individuals, especially Meher Mirza Surveen Chawla and what happens between them will be shown in the web series. Rajeev Khandelwal in a still from Haq Se. Haq Se is nothing like your regular TV show. It's based on a classic Little Women. In terms of story, it can be compared to the classics and in terms of shooting it was more like a film.
And then Ken [Ghosh] introduces his own style.
Since this is a very sensitive series, emotions are very raw and they have been captured very beautifully in the series. And in order to get it right, it was not possible for us to shoot ten scenes in a day, not even five. We shot three scenes a day considering the meticulous approach that is followed towards the characters. We had to shoot more like a film. My character is a mix of both the worlds and all that I have done so far--it has a romantic side, the sensitive side, the complex one, everything.
This is not a series where you walk in and out of the shoot.
Ex flames Rajeev Khandelwal and Aamna Shariff to share screen space again in Hongey Judaa Na Hum
We all used to meet up, play out scenes, fine tune the characters. One of the strong features of the series is its writing and that is mind-blowing. Since they had already set standards in terms of writing, we had to take it to another level. Then Ken gave it his own flavour. She was good even then. Back then, in Kahiin To Hoga, when we started working together, she had joined after a few months.
'I’m no longer linked with Aamna Sharif' | entertainment | Hindustan Times
At that time, we weren't really very concerned about the way our characters were shaping up as we had little understanding of it. We were newcomers, trying to get our act right. Now, I understand the smaller nuances of the characters, and writing.
Rajeev Khandelwal and Aamna Sharif. As an individual, she is still the same--bubbly, vivacious, energetic. A little maturity comes when you have spent years in the industry, so that little maturity in terms of approach…but she is a wonderful co-star. We never had any differences, not even a disagreement. Because if that would have been the case, it would have required sitting on it and working it out, because she is an intelligent woman.
But that did not happen with her. We didn't have to work hard on our chemistry because it happened on its own. I am myself, very ordinary.
I believe in doing my own things at my own pace. I don't really borrow ideas. Whatever I am, wherever I am, I want to do it my way. I don't want to borrow support from any other source to help me achieve my things. I am not insecure in my head. I did a couple of plots for Doordarshan. I guess I just didn't have the patience discipline or dedication. Today when I look back on those days I feel I was such an amateur. My odd short-films were a jumble of images.
Then I turned into producer. So this was a period of turmoil? It was a learning experience. I had no friends or finances. I had to make money. I did auditions for commercials. After a couple of months I did my first ad.
My ads were recognized, not me. I'm not being modest. Do you feel isolated because of your sudden success on television?
Rajeev Khandelwal to Aamna Sharif: This is how the cast of Kahiin to Hoga looks now | IndiaToday
I don't believe in the media hype, negative or positive, about me. An actor keeps struggling all his life. My first big break Kahiin To Hoga was a turning point in my life. I auditioned for Sujal's role in Delhi along with other hopefuls.
You became more popular than the soap? I can't comment on that. But even after I quit the show I'm known as Sujal. The women continue to think of me as Sujal. I respect their feelings. Your fan following is unprecedented. It is very humbling. When I went to Gauwhati for a show a year old lady was screaming 'Sujal', she held a hand-stitched pull-over with Sujal written on it. I asked her how she knew she'd one day run into me a pullover can't be knitted overnight.
She said she knew.
Finally, dil ka deal!
Another lady called me from Goa telling me she prays for me each time she goes to the church. I wonder what I've done to deserve this kind of love! It makes me feel very obligated. I can't enjoy this popularity without giving back to the audience the love they give me.
I can't make one wrong move. I won't do any old serial that comes my way. You've a reputation for being high-handed. I don't know why. Those who know me don't despise me. Probably these rumours have to do with the insecurities of the rumour-mongers. They've nothing to do with me. I don't care about such allegations. If the spotboys feel I'm not a good humanbeing then it'd be time for me to go for a reality check.
Otherwise I don't care what's written about me. Did your break with Ekta Kapoor affect your career? We both know what happened. It was a mutual decision for me to move on. Her ideas on how to play Sujal didn't jell with me.
The actor within me couldn't agree with the way she wanted the role to be played. I could've worked with Balajee for ten more years. But the liberties being taken with logistics in my characterization were unbearable.

I was being watched minutely by viewers. It was Sujal who became a rage, not Rajiv. The guy who's replaced you has no fan following. I don't know about that. I've stopped watching Kahiin To But when I'd go abroad as Sujal I'd be mobbed far more intensely than so many film stars. Women threw jewellery at me. Did I've the right to enjoy Sujal's stardom when I was no longer enjoying playing him?
But your post-Ekta sojourn Time Bomb hasn't worked? I won't be dishonest. I did my best on the serial. I can't comment on other departments of the serial.
It did succeed in getting me out the chcocolate-box image which people thought was insurmountable. I think Sujal cannot be forgotten.
